The holiday rush to get COVID-19 tests to help with family gatherings may soon subside but with the highly contagious omicron variant still with us, the need for regular testing is becoming necessary.

According to the Minnesota Department of Health COVID dashboard, the seven-day average case rate in the state had been declining for most of December pre-holidays but has started climbing.

If you need a COVID test now in Minnesota, the state has over 20 community testing sites that provide free tests. You can get the rapid test (antigen), with results available within 1-3 hours or you can take the saliva (PCR) test with results available 24-72 hours. For international travel, you need the PCR test.

Tests are free and they welcome walk-ins.
