BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. — After last week’s primary elections, attention now shifts to the November general election, with candidates for Brooklyn Park mayor and three City Council seats invited to participate in an Aug. 27 candidate forum.

The League of Women Voters of Brooklyn Park, Osseo and Maple Grove will host the forum beginning at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, in the Brooklyn Park City Council chambers, 5200 85th Ave. N.

Incumbent Mayor Hollies Winston and Councilmember Shelle Page advanced from last week’s four-way mayoral primary. Winston led the field with 48.58% of the vote, while Page finished second with 27.29%.

Page is serving her first term on the City Council, and her current council term runs through 2028.

Three council seats will also be decided in November, although only the East District race appeared on the primary ballot last week.

In the East District, incumbent Councilmember Christian Eriksen finished first with more than 52% of the vote. Allen Miskowiec finished second with 17.65%, advancing with Eriksen to the general election.

In the Central District, Councilmember Nichole Klonowski, who is finishing her first term, will face Ashyante Shantell Gill.

The West District is an open seat, with Bernice Cooper and Tonja West-Hafner competing to succeed Councilmember Maria Tran. Tran opted to run for mayor this year but finished fourth in last week’s primary with 9.83% of the vote.

The forum is free and open to the public. Questions for the candidates may be submitted to the League ahead of the forum at [email protected].
