globalFEST which is usually held at different clubs in New York in January had to go virtual this year due to the pandemic. The organizers teamed up with NPR’s Tiny Desk to present a virtual concert hosted by Angélique Kidjo and featured artists such as Edwin Perez, Elisapie, Nora Brown, Rokia Traoré among others.
Kidjo was among the performers at the inaugural launch of globalFest in 2004.
This year’s online festival included four nights of concerts featuring 16 bands from all over the world. From Monday, Jan. 11, through Thursday, Jan. 14.
