Mshale will host a virtual candidate forum on Thursday, July 16 ahead of the special election for the Minneapolis City Council Ward 6 seat. The special election will be held on August 11 during the state primaries.
The seat became vacant after former Councilman Abdi Warsame left to head the Minneapolis Public Housing Authority.
A record twelve candidates filed to run for the hotly contested race. One of them dropped out last week.
The July 16 forum will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will be moderated by Mshale reporters Cynthia Simba and Mohamud Farah Dulyadeyn. All remaining eleven candidates have confirmed their participation.
The forum will be streamed live on Mshale’s Facebook page at this link Facebook.com/mshalenews and the Mshale YouTube channel at YouTube.com/MshaleNewspaper.
The format will include candidate introductions and questions from the moderators curated by the Mshale editorial team.
